Dig UP, stupid.

Of course, somehow, even as Jim Wallace continued to dig himself into a hole over his stupendously ill-informed remarks about homosexuality and smoking, the ACL did some mental gymnastics and managed to conclude that the real victims in all of this… are the ACL.

Just quickly, what Jim Wallace said:

“I think we’re going to owe smokers a big apology when the homosexual community’s own statistics for its health – which it presents when it wants more money for health – are that is has higher rates of drug-taking, of suicide, it has the life of a male reduced by up to 20 years.

“We have to accept the unfortunate levels of suicide, the unfortunate levels of excessive drug use (are) because of the nature of the lifestyle.”

And this is the email the ACL’s Lyle Shelton sent around to its followers yesterday:

I’m sure by now you have heard the news that Prime Minister Julia Gillard has pulled out of speaking at ACL’s National Conference.

I’ll come back to this disappointing news.

But first some context. Last night I attended an address by the Catholic Bishop of Parramatta, Anthony Fisher, to the St Thomas More Society in Canberra.

The topic was gay marriage.

A Dominican, Bishop Fisher is a formidable intellect who gave one of the most reasoned defences of marriage I have heard since this debate began.

He outlined the persecution both at home and abroad of people, many of whom were ‘Bible Christians’, who dared oppose the homosexual activist agenda publicly.

“No one is exempt from this ferocious campaign to silence advocates of marriage as traditionally understood,” he said.

Little did I realise how prophetic Bishop Fisher’s address would be for ACL.

Yesterday our Managing Director Jim Wallace debated Greens leader Christine Milne in front of law students at the University of Tasmania in Hobart.

One of the students asked a question and in answer Jim drew a correlation with the health warnings we give smokers to the lack of warning given of the well-documented dangerous health risks associated with the homosexual lifestyle.

By early this morning the PM’s office was on the phone. By lunch time she had pulled out of the conference.

Never mind that Jim did not say that ‘smoking was healthier than gay marriage’, as was wrongly reported.

The damage was done and this combined with false information from the Tasmanian gay activist Rodney Croome reported uncritically, caused the PM to blink.

What we are seeing in our society is the unconditional surrender to aggressive gay activism that will tolerate no public challenge to its assumptions.

As Bishop Fisher reminded us last night, two brave men in the 16th century stood up to an English King who wanted to redefine marriage to suit his own purpose.

While there were obviously other issues, Henry VIII’s manipulation of marriage for his own ends was a central issue.

The Bishop of Rochester John Fisher and Thomas More were both martyred in part because they made a stand for truth about marriage.

Fisher’s head was tossed into the Thames.

Before being executed, More said: “I am the King’s good servant, but God’s first”.

Now more than ever, we need to stand for the truth about marriage in the face of lies about its definition.

ACL’s conference will go ahead without the PM. Please join us as our theme of religious freedom has suddenly become even more imperative.

Kind regards,

Lyle Shelton
Chief of Staff

Because saying something offensive and having the PM refuse to deliver a keynote speech at your conference is exactly the same as being decapitated. The lack of self-awareness with these people is actually awesome, in the most literal sense.

Their tantrum over Julia Gillard making the right decision (not to lend prime ministerial authority to a band of gay-obsessed hate merchants) really just reminds me of this classic Simpsons scene:
