There’s Santorum in the Punch
I’m going to guess Rupert Murdoch wouldn’t be at all pleased about my piece in The Punch today in which I sound off about his boyfriend Rick Santorum. Also, my grandparents probably aren’t going to be printing this one off and affixing it to the fridge.
Some of the comments are crazy/stupid. Here’s one of my favourites so far:
What a strange rant by the author. I get it. The author is gay and therefore sees everything through a prism of his own prejudice against church, family and culture. Wouldn’t it be quaint if the activists in the gay community were as tolerant as they want the rest of society to be? wouldn’t it be nice if they quoted in context and not used exaggerations to make their case?
The comments from Rick Santorum that I quoted actually look much worse in context: he described homosexuality as being akin to “man on child” sex. Also, why are gays so intolerant? Why can’t we just passively accept it when major political figures compare gays to dog- and child-fuckers and threaten to wind back our civil liberties?
